One of God’s own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.
I think it’s easier for people to justify a lot of godly stuff as aliens considering how much contact the universes seem to have with outside forces like that - Marvel have the worse stick though.
The nordic pantheon, and even the upcoming Mayans in Rulk - Themed groups of godly beings. You can’t dissuade that - Eternals, Inhumans, New Gods, Celestials even; All can be said to be aliens. Some guy in a winged hat with a hammer? It’s harder to do that. That said: Arkon exists and he’s an extra-dimensional barbarian.
Same goes for the Greeks in DC. Big fucking kraken in the Thames? Sure, a monster - But it talks and says he’s Posideon.
I think that’d be the sticking point for Atheism in DC/MU. Walking, talking demi-gods. You can explain a lot of it, but their own faith in their own existance makes them so.
If I lived in either universe - I’d be more worried about FUCKING DEMONS AND SORCERERS EVERYWHERE.

How’s this for creepy:
My internet crapped out today - BT doing repairs in town.
So I decided to read a book, skimmed the contents out of interst, thinking I’d end up reading the Hakim Bey champers anyway, when suddenly:
“Cameron: The Wormwood Star”
Wormwood Star? …Why does that sound familiar…?
Oh yeah! I made a group of villains up for my “Internal Lexicon” called the Legion of the Wormwood Star - Religious Zealots obsessed with Death, imperfection and bodily mutation.
Now, I want you guys to understand, I’ve flicked through this book many times, so this might have been me picking up on the phrase subconsciously, but hear my thought process out:
WORMWOOD: Angel of Death from Gnostic scripture, as I had come to understand it.
Originally DESDENOVA, The Eternal Light, from Blue Oyster Cult’s Imaginos album. This was in an idea I’d had about road-tripping Angels.
Wormwood is the English translation of CHERNOBYL, according to Promethean: The Created, published by White Wolf.
This is how *I* came up with the Wormwood Star.
I read the article, by Brian Butler, about the life of Cameron and her impact on the Occult world and culture of the time.
As soon as I finished reading, POW, internet comes right back on.
FUCKING MAGIC.
Now, is this truly a divine coincidence?
Even if it’s just a plain old one, I’m really happy it happened. I now have a better idea of who and what the Legion stand for.
